Issue: Aging Skin
You can protect skin from aging by using a sunscreen anytime you’re in the sun. If you already have lines (wrinkles), it isn’t too late. However, at that point, you need to start using products which keep you from getting more as well as products to diminish the signs of aging.
Issue: Acne Prone Skin
Other than aging, acne is the most common skin condition in the U.S. It affects teenagers, but also can be adult-onset acne. If treated properly, it can be controlled by using the proper products.
Issue: Dry Skin
Some people are born with the tendency to have drier skin. Unfortunately, as we age, our skin dries out more. If you don’t exfoliate, your moisturizer will not penetrate. Instead, the moisturizer will moisturize the dead cells which will eventually fall off, therefore not penetrating your cells. The moisturizer you use on your face can actually cause puffiness under your eyes as there aren’t any pores around your eyes.
Solution: Aging Skin
Merle Norman has many products which take care of all of the above. Some of them, but not all, include Energizing Concentrate (penetrates the layers of the epidermis to keep the cells plump); Fine Line Minimizer (diminishes the wrinkles)’ Wrinkle Smoother & Wrinkle Smoother for Eyes (relaxes the lines caused from facial movement). Of course exfoliations, sunscreens, moisturizers with sunscreen, Exfoliators (force cells to renew themselves faster), Retinol, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Glycolic Peels and many more products which we can customize for you or skin.
Solution: Acne Prone Skin
Start by keeping your skin clean using our products which are made especially for acne prone skin, including cleanser, toner and acne spot treatment. Again, this can be customized for your particular needs. Salicylic Acid is an effective acne-fighting ingredient approved by the FDA. It has great exfoliating properties to keep pores clear of debris and dead skin cells which trap oil and bacteria.
Soltion: Dry Skin
To remedy this, start cleansing with cleaners which don’t contain alcohol. That includes toners. Toners are important as they remove any residue left by your cleanser and keep your pores from getting larger. Using a good moisturizer which is meant for drier skin is important. Just as important is exfoliating, at least 2 to 3 times per week. In addition, we have many products which will boost your moisturizer. You should use a night cream for night. Also, you must use an eye moisturizer for the delicate eye area. You should use an eye make up remover instead of your regular cleanser.
Issue: Oily Skin
Oil is secreted through the pores. Dead skin cells inside the pore opening shed gradually and, if not expelled, will create a clog. You must use cleansers & toners which will unclog the pores. If you don’t, the clogs may present themselves as black or white heads. A black head is a clogged pore which has blackened at the surface from oxidation. A white head is actually deeper and has not been exposed to air. One fallacy regarding oily skin is that skin doesn’t need moisturizing. Oily skin does not mean moisturized skin. It would be like the difference between Crisco and water. We need water, not oil.
Issue: Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin is usually due to environmental or genetic factors. It is usually dry and can look red and blotchy with visible surface veins. Quite often it is very thin or finely textured. It burns easily when exposed to the sun, wind or cold. Therefore, skin can be more or less sensitive with weather changes.
Issue: Discoloration
This is caused by many different reasons. Sometimes, we are born with a discoloration; Other times, the discoloration may be caused from scaring; may be caused from sun damage.
Solution: Oily Skin
We have a moisturizer which os oil free for oily skin. If you use products which dry your skin out, your skin thinks it needs to produce more.Exfoliation and using deep cleansers like our Charcoal Mask, Miracol or Clay Mask will be your friend.
Solution: Sensitive Skin
We have an amazing skin care line developed for those with sensitive skin, including Rosacea. They’re called Gentle Solutions. Rosacea must be determined by a dermatologist.
Solution: Discoloration
Our Brilliant C line helps this issue. The Vitamin C ingredient brightens the skin as well as moisturizing. Besides the cleansers and moisturizers, there is also a serum which may be used all over or on a specific area.
